The Greater Pine Island Alliance was featured on ABC’s Gulf Coast News. The story included Erin Lollar-Lambert, Executive Director; Bruce Williams, GPIA volunteer; and Jackie McGuire, GPIA client and Hurricane Ian survivor.
Jackie had this to say “This is family. I consider this family,” he said of the nonprofit and its volunteers.
“Everybody on the island, everybody just came together.”
The nonprofit has helped McGuire put his home back together and has also helped him through his great personal loss.
If anything, Hurricane Ian only proved something people on Pine Island and Matlacha have known all along.
It isn’t the place that defines the people.
It’s the people who define the place.
“Earthly angels. That’s what they are. There’s a lot of them on the island,” McGuire said.
